Romanov, by Nadine Brandes (BOOK REVIEW)
The Romanov family is under exile in Siberia and their only hope has been trusted with Anastasia. She must smuggle an ancient spell to her family and hang onto survival. Life in Siberia brings the family through, sorrow, pain and the fight for life. Anastasia must make the decision to deal with consequences of releasing the ancient spell, or choose to trust Zash, a handsome soldier who seems different than the other Bolshevik soldiers. The problem is, Anastasia starts to like Zash and she think he might even like her. That is, until Zash makes a decision that greets Anastasia with death itself.
"The bond of our hearts spans miles, memory and time."
Romanov, by Nadine Brandes is the first book that I have ever cried in. That simple statement is enough to tell you that this book is good. I have never cried in a book and I have read over 85 so far. After I read Fawkes by Nadine Brandes, I fell in love with the author and was eager to read more of her work. This book did not disappoint and it was worth the while. Romanov was filled with emotion and adventure that kept me turning the pages. Anastasia was a very interesting character and it was such a interesting circumstance that she lived in. This book is based on the Romanov family, and is a historical fiction. The fiction is definitely more fantastical, due to the magic and spells etc. Another thing about this book that I liked was how complex the romance was. Anastasia falls in love with a soldier that is keeping her captive. I thought it was really cool how two people from completely back-rounds and beliefs still fell in love. This book dealt with a lot of forgiveness and grief, which I thought was a really good lesson. I absolutely loved this book, I fell in love with the characters and didn't want it to end!
I recommend this book for ages 13+ and give it a 10 out of 10! (There is nothing I would change about this book! I loved it!)
