Son (Book Review)

I’m not sure I can put into words how good this book is………

Son starts off all the way back to the time and community of the book “The Giver”.

A girl named Claire at the ceremony of Twelves is assigned “Birthmother”.  Being a Birthmother isn’t necessarily a honorable assignment. At 14 Claire has her first newchild. She isn’t allowed to hold her baby, see her baby, love her baby. After she has her baby Claire is told that many things went wrong and that she would no longer be a Birthmother.  Claire begins to wonder about her baby. Could she find him?

When Claire find her son at the Nurturing center she is overjoyed! But one day Claire finds out that her son is missing…

I really loved this book and it was such a good ending for the series of all these wonderful books! It was really cool that it connected with all of the other books in the series. I loved the aspect of good and evil and the reality that good will always triumph.

In the Giver I was a little disappointed that I didn’t know what happened to Jonas and Gabriel, but in this book it was nice to find out! In the first section of “Son” it was nice to experience the story of “The Giver” in a different perspective and then continue Claire’s journey through different Villages and points in her thoughts.

NOTE: This is the last book in the Giver Quartet. I would recommend reading the other books in the series prior to this one.

I recommend this book for 13+
