The Great Divorce, by C.S. Lewis (BOOK REVIEW)

"But Heaven is not a state of mind. Heaven is reality itself. All that is fully real is Heavenly. For all that can be shaken, will be shaken and only the unshakable will remain."

The writer finds himself in Hell boarding a bus bound for Heaven. Everyone on the bus has the chance to stay in Heaven. Will pride get in the way? Will they be willing to forget their temporary comfort and go through the pain of letting go, to have eternal life? A thrilling work of what bitterness can do in peoples lives and how to give it all to Him.

"I am in Love, and out of it I will not go."

The Great Divorce, by C.S. Lewis was an amazing book packed full of wisdom and thought provoking truths. I loved the ideas that C.S. Lewis presented about Heaven and Hell. I gained so much from reading this book and could read it ten times over and still learn something new. Everyone, Christian or not, should read this book. Lewis has the most amazing way of bringing real-life circumstances, that are relatable, and showing how it can affect the soul. In The Screwtape Letters so much of the enemies battle plans are revealed and it was like that in this book too. This book showed us how sin affects the heart and steers us away from God's love.
At the beginning of the book I was a little confused as to what was happening, but if you allow that insecurity, you will begin to understand. C.S. Lewis' writing was so complex and mysterious. This wasn't a book that was easy to read. No, this book brought ideas that challenged the mind in the most amazing way.

(Look out for a separate post with all my thoughts and notes based on each chapter.)

I recommend this book for ages 13+  (I think in order to understand the point of the book, you should be older.) and I give it a 10 out of 10!
