Loch, by Paul Zindel (BOOK REVIEW)
Summary─୨ৎ────────୨ৎ────────୨ৎ
Loch and his sister are with their father on a scientific expedition to track lake monsters. Their father's boss, Anthony Cavenger, a ruthless publishing mogul, is determined to prove that the legends are fact. Until now, it has been a fruitless exercise. But suddenly, on a routine exploration, a hideous water beast explodes out of the water, and a photographer, hoping to get the picture of a lifetime, loses his life instead. The plesiosaurs terrorize the secluded lake community, but Loch encounters a baby plesiosaur and realizes that the monsters only attack when threatened. So he risks his life-and the lives of his family and friends-to save the prehistoric creatures from destruction.

Don't-don't ask. This book became a joke-thing in my friend group and I was pressured into reading it (iykyk). The first word that comes to mind when I think about this book is, "cringe". It was just really cringe. That was the main part of the joke thing. It really got a laugh out of all of us.
I don't really understand why this book is considered horror. Sure, it had maybe one or two gory parts, but this book was definitely written for younger aged kids. It has that adventure/mystery vibe that I think a lot of younger boys would really like. Who knows? Maybe if I read this book when I was like nine or ten, I would've loved it. I feel like I would have felt really "grown up" reading it XD.
I think that the plot was super silly. It was so bad. Unrealistic, kinda childish and wow I'm really slamming this book hard. But, like I said this book was just so stinkin' cringy.
The characters had no depth, they were just along for the ride. I'm literally laughing so hard writing this, just thinking about it. If you want a good laugh, definitely read this book. Don't take it seriously.
That ending, bro. Wow. I was moved....yes that was sarcasm. But the ending is the cringiest part so, that was really fun. The cringe-level escalates throughout the entire book and then BAM! The ending is the grand finale.
I recommend that you make a book-club with your friends and read this book. You will forever have a shared joke.
"We're a family!"
I give this book a 2 out of 10 and recommend it to ages 10+
