Book Thrifting Haul and Sunrise on the Reaping!
There's nothing like a new book. Yesterday my friend and I went to two stores in search of books and I found a few books that I'm very excited about. Another thing that I'm really excited about is the new Hunger Games book, Sunrise on the Reaping! And for my birthday last year, my other friend got me the new book! I'm so excited to start it and can't wait to learn more about Haymitch's story. He's one my favorite characters and I'm in suspense to find out what happened to him.
Book Thrifting Haul:
Like I said before, my friend and I went on a little excursion yesterday. But we couldn't have done it without my dad. Thanks dad! He was the one that took us to the stores and stood there while we looked at every single book we could get our hands on! The first store we went to is called Free To Thrift. It's a cute little store that has $1.00 books! *screams in pillow* yeah, just one single dollar for a whole book! That price just makes me so happy :).
A Study in Scarlet Women, Sherry Thomas
Wait, what? A lady Sherlock Holmes book!? Yes, sign me up! This book really intrigues me. Though I do have to confess that I haven't read any of the original Sherlock Holmes books. I'm really interested to see what the mood of this book will be. There is a lady with a pretty big dress on the cover which kind of sets the time period, but I can't wait to see what the rest of the vibe is.

My Name is Lucy Barton, Elizabeth Strout
This book sounds really heart-warming. It seems really laid-back and sweet so, obviously I couldn't pass it. I don't know much about it, but the cover (yes, I'm judging the book by its cover) is so pretty and the story sounds so wholesome. I can't wait to read it!

Girl with a Pearl Earring, Tracy Chevalier
I saw this book and immediately recognized the beautiful lady on the cover. I'm really excited to dive into this book and see how it connects with the painting. Lately, I've really been in the mood for classic books, so I'm really looking forward to reading this.

The Bridge to Belle Island, Julie Klassen
I found this book in the free bin. Yes, yes I did not buy it. Since it was free I thought I might as well buy it. It looks cheesy, corny and overdramatic. Perfect. Just what I want. Sometimes it's okay to want to just read a really sappy book. But I did some re-search on it and see really good things about it. It's historical fiction, which is one of my favorite genres. So, I'm interested to see what this ones about.

The Rain Watcher, Tatiana De Rosnay
Left Behind, Tim LaHave & Jerry B. Jenkins
Another find in the free bin! My friend has had this book on her tbr for a while and I was so excited to find it! This book looks amazing! The reviews are amazing and the overall theme of the book is right up my alley. I'm super excited about this one :).

After we went to Free to Thrift, we went to a little bookstore called Our Bookshop. I loved that when I walked in, I immediately could smell the books! It was a super cute store with mostly classic books. The prices ranged from $4.00 to $20.00.
Washington Square, Henry James
I have a copy of this book but it is really old and is missing its cover. So, I definitely needed an upgrade. My mom read this and I have yet to start it. I'm super interested to see what its about. Like I said before, I've been really wanting to read classics so this one fulfills that craving!

The Monsters of St. Helena, Brookes Hansen
A story about Napoleon? Well, it's gotta be interesting. I'm so interested to find out what this book is even about. I read the back a few times and picked up on the premise but I'm still a little unsure what exactly it is about. I can't wait to find out.

Sunrise on the Reaping, Suzanne Collins
We made it. We survived the few months until the release of Haymitch's games. I'm overjoyed and cannot wait to dive back into the world of Panem. I feel like when I first read the og trilogy, I didn't soak it all up or take it all in. Coming into this book and knowing that I only get to read a book for the first time once will be something I want to put to use. But I will probably finish it in a day :D. I'm hearing a lot of great things about this book and I am so ready to have my heart broken again.
Nice haul. Which book are you most excited to read that you got from the haul? We all know you are excited to read “sunrise on the reaping”. 😉
ReplyDeleteProbably Left Behind. Anything in Christian Thriller genre really excites me!
