The Hunger Games, Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins (Book Review)
"It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart."
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived...
It was all planned that Katniss would be rescued from the arena in the Quarter Quell. But Peeta was taken to the Capitol and District 12, the only home she has ever known, is gone. Katniss is now a part of a revolution that she never planned to start. District 13 really does exist and now it is publicly plotting to overthrow the Capitol.
The triumph of the revolution depends on if Katniss is willing to be District 13's face of the revolution or not. People need hope, they need to know she's alive. Katniss must put aside her feelings of confusion and she must become the rebels' Mockingjay.
"Fire burns brighter in the darkness..."
Mockingjay was an amazing way to end the Hunger Games series. Everything ties in at the end. I really enjoyed the thrill of the story. Suzanne Collins is such an amazing writer, she deals with romance, grief and pain and it makes you feel all those things while you're reading it. In its entirety, Mockingjay stands as a testament to Suzanne Collins' remarkable storytelling and her ability to weave complex themes through engaging narratives. I couldn't stop reading. Every single page was mesmerizing and complex. As the series concludes, readers are left reflecting on the intricate layers of human experience—loss, love, sacrifice, and hope—ushered forth through Katniss Everdeen's journey. The novel really dives deep into both the pain of past decisions and the uncertain promise of a new beginning, leaving readers thinking about their current life and the entirety of the world. Collins masterpiece of a series leaves an enduring legacy for both her characters and her audience.
"You're a painter. You're a baker. You like to sleep with the windows open. You never take sugar in your tea. And you always double-knot your shoelaces."
I highly recommend this series and I give this book a 10 out of 10 and recommend it for ages 14+
